Over the past year, the V-Guide™ Kuka demo pod has traveled to trade shows nationwide to showcase our 3D robot guidance capabilities for pick and place operations. Our Sales team observed opportunities to enhance demo functionality and hardware durability for optimal performance at trade shows and during transit.
To enhance the V-Guide™ Kuka demo pod’s performance, our DevOps, Engineering, and Sales teams collaborated to implement the following improvements:
Prevent robot collisions during part placement caused by settling
The V-Guide™ Product Manager identified factors contributing to part settling after vision offset calculation. Adjustments to linear and joint acceleration smoothed the robot’s movements to reduce the pod shaking, which caused the part to move after being placed. Additionally, we recognized that the pod’s stability was affected by cushioned floors at trade shows, so we added stabilizing legs with additional screws for an improved design.
Enhance panel lighting durability
To address lighting issues during trade shows and transit, our Sales team sourced industrial-grade lights with a single connection point, eliminating the need to disconnect multiple light source connections for shipping. We also improved equipment to minimize cable and connection point wear.
Improve demo display features for viewer clarity
To make the Kuka demo more accessible and understandable to those unfamiliar with vision-guided systems, we incorporated two enhancements. A video on the display monitor clarifies the product and its applications, while adjustments to robot movements highlight the moment V-Guide™ applies the adjustment offset.
Reconfigure the TV mount for stability
To eliminate screen bounce, the team tested several configurations until they found a stable solution. The monitor was secured directly to the robot enclosure using a rigid two-point connection. This provided greater stability during the demo pod operation and also increased ease of setup.
Reduce noise during robot movements.
We addressed excessive sound produced by the demo pod by adding weather stripping to doors and making adjustments to robot’s movements, creating smoother paths and motions. Additional leg reinforcements were added to reduce rattling.
At our core, we prioritize innovation and continuous improvement to exceed customer expectations in all aspects of our business. Stay updated on our latest developments by following us on LinkedIn to find out where you can experience the V-Guide™ Kuka pod demo next.
