Catch up with Product Engineer, Kyle, and learn about how he navigates his dynamic role of improving and developing Liberty Reach products.
How long have you worked for Liberty Reach and what drew you to apply for the Product Engineer position?
“I’ve been at Liberty Reach since October 2022. I was drawn in by my love for automation and Liberty Reach’s role in the field of it. I had studied robotics in college so knowing I knew I would be excited to get to work with machine vision.”
What do you find rewarding about the work that you do?
“I find it rewarding that I get to see firsthand the impact that my work has on what we do. If I work on debugging or testing software, I usually see the issues resolved fairly quickly. If I have a suggestion, it gets heard. I also love the reward of getting to see a complete robot cell run automatically for the first time after we do an installation.“
What is it about machine vision that you find fascinating?
“I’m fascinated by how machine vision provides an interface between the robot’s world and the real world, allowing it to interact in ways that it could never do when hard coding robot positions. It definitely improves automation by offering more flexibility in what automation is capable of.”
Describe some of your favorite pastimes or hobbies.
“Gaming is my biggest hobby, but 3D printing would be my next biggest. I have three FFF (plastic filament) printers and one resin printer. I also sometimes like to tinker with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and ESP32 boards. Recently, I’ve been trying to learn how to repair broken electronics like game consoles.”
