Revolutionizing Small Part Material Handling Applications
Liberty Reach now offers new sensor technology for the VFix™ robot guidance system that increases the capabilities for small part material handling. The new machine vision sensor enables VFix™ to calculate offsets for smaller components compared to our current VSx sensor. With the VSx sensor, the system is capable of imaging parts with a minimum x-y part size of 6″x6″. With the new sensor, the system images parts with a minimum x-y size of 3″x1″.
In this demonstration, the sensor is mounted above each letter around 300mm from the part surface. The sensor then captures a high-resolution image of the small, intricate part for VFix™ to calculate the position of the part. After the image is captured, the VFix™ position data is used to adjust the robot’s pick position, where the robot utilizes a magnetic gripper to carefully place the letter in each socket.
With the new sensor offering, VFix™ further empowers robots to manipulate and pick parts with enhanced accuracy and precision. The successful launch of this sensor is the result of months of meticulous planning, seamless integration, and collaborative teamwork.
